Specializing in NFL football and MLB baseball merchandise and sports news American Sports Outlet is here for the sports fan. We want to say congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phil lies baseball fans. It is 3-1 Phil lies, as a baseball fan personally I am pulling for a 7 game series favoring the Rays.

NFL football surprises for the year to me are the Titans, Bengal's, Bears, and Vikings up at the top. The Titans earned a wild card playoff birth last year sure, but 7-0 after beating the previous 5 time AFC South Colts on Monday Night Football. Or the Bengal's who many thought would make the playoffs sitting at 0-7 currently. The Vikings, do not get me started, everyone's popular Super Bowl pick now sits at 3-4. And finally the Chicago Bears. Every year the defense and special teams seem to carry this team to the playoffs. This year I thought the Bears and Chiefs where the 2 worst NFL teams on paper. After week 7, the Chicago Bears find themselves tied with the Packers for first in the NFC North division.

Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush is expected to be stripped of the award by the end of the month. The former Southern Cal running back would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the Heisman Trophy taken away. The report also said the award would be left vacant for '05.

Woods, Cink, Fowler among Pavin's picks (AP)
Tiger Woods is going to the Ryder Cup as a captain's pick with his 71 victories and 14 majors. So is 21-year-old Rickie Fowler, who has never won anything at all. Corey Pavin made an obvious choice and a surprising one Tuesday morning at the New York Stock Exchange when he added Woods and Fowler, along with former major champions Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink, to an American team that will try...

'Skins, Titans discuss Haynesworth deal (AP)
The Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans are in discussions about a trade of disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, people with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press. The people spoke to the AP on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the talks are confidential. Washington signed Haynesworth to a $100 million contract in 2009 as a free agent, and the tackle...

Brewers' Hoffman earns 600th save (AP)
In a season that didn't go as planned for Trevor Hoffman, baseball's career saves leader added another milestone to his illustrious career. Hoffman earned his 600th save Tuesday night, closing out the Milwaukee Brewers' 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. A few months ago, Hoffman couldn't have been sure this day would come.

Boise still 3rd but gains ground in poll (AP)
More AP Top 25 voters are buying into Boise State as the No. 1 team in the country. Boise State gained seven first-place votes and closed in on No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State as the top three teams in the first regular season Associated Press football poll held their spots from the preseason. The Broncos remained third after a thrilling 33-30 victory against Virginia Tech on Monday night,...

McNabb to start, ankle not 100 percent (AP)
Donovan McNabb said Tuesday his sprained ankle isn't 100 percent, but it won't keep him from starting the Washington Redskins' opener Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. "Yes, I will be starting this weekend," McNabb told ESPN980. "And I look forward to it." McNabb sprained his left ankle 2 1/2 weeks ago in a preseason game against Baltimore.

Revis practices, expected to play opener (AP)
The ball tipped off Darrelle Revis' hands, then his helmet and popped into the air before falling to the ground. The New York Jets cornerback knew exactly what was coming next. "Rusty!" shouted some teammates. Another yelled: "You've been chilling all camp, having a good time at the beach, huh?" It was all in good fun, though, as Revis enjoyed the ribbing during a mostly...

Venus defeats Schiavone to reach semis (AP)
Nobody can say Kim Clijsters took an easy path to her U.S. Open title last year. She played both Williams sisters. This year, she'll only play one, though this could be an even more effective version of Venus Williams than came to Flushing Meadows in 2009. Clijsters and Williams each won their quarterfinal matches Tuesday to set up a marquee semifinal -- the No.

Phils in 1st for first time since May 30 (AP)
They overcame injuries to nearly every starter, suffered through an awful slump for long stretches and kept going. The Philadelphia Phillies are back in first place by the slimmest of margins. Now they'll try to stay there. Placido Polanco hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning and the Phillies beat the Florida Marlins 8-7 Tuesday night to move atop the NL East standings.

Rays rout BoSox, pull closer to Yankees (AP)
David Price got plenty of support when Tampa Bay hit five homers. The way he was pitching, he didn't need much of it. The left-hander allowed two hits over six innings and the Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 14-5 on Tuesday night to move 1 1/2 games behind the first-place New York Yankees in the AL East.
