The
Florida Marlins franchise joined Major League Baseball as part of
the 1993 expansion. In there short history the Marlins have already
won 2 World Series championships.
One in 1997 against the Indians, the other
in 2003 against the Yankees. The 2007 version
of the Florida Marlins does not appear to be a championship caliber
baseball team unfortunately for there fans. As the old saying goes
though, that is why they play the game. These Marlins are not hopeless
and do have some young talent that makes the fans have hope. Young
players such as Dontrelle Willis, Miguel Cabrera, Dan Uggla, Hanley
Ramirez, and Jeremy Hermida have the Marlins fans hopeful for more
world series championships in south Florida soon.

Information
When the
Marlins have winning seasons, they make them count. Two out of
the three times the Marlins have finished over .500 in their 10-year
history, they have won the World Series.
The team
was named the Marlins because the fish is a fierce fighter and
an adversary that tests your mettle. Buy Marlins Tickets In 2002
the Marlins were sold to former Expos owner Peter Loria. After
the sale, Marlins fans lost interest in the team, and the team
performed poorly. In 2003, the Marlins started slowly, but came
back to claim their second playoff berth. Entering the playoffs
few gave the Marlins any chance, however they defeated the San
Francisco Giants in the NLDS and the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS
to advance to their second World Series. In the World Series,
the Marlins met the New York Yankees, and again were not given
much of a shot, but the Marlins defeated the Yankees for their
second World Championship. The Marlins entered the 2004 season
with high hopes after winning the 2003 World Series, but despite
finishing above .500 they fell short of reaching the postseason.

<p>Marlins' president David Samson said he expects right-hander Juan Carlos Oviedo, formerly known as Leo Nunez, to join the team some time during spring training.</p>
<p>But Samson was less certain about Oviedo's chances of opening the season with the team. Oviedo is on the restricted list while he works out immigration issues in the Dominican Republic.</p>
<p>Oviedo was placed on the restricted list in September, right before he admitted to using a fake name, Leo Nunez.</p>
<p>"I hope that things get cleared up and we'd love to have him in camp and getting ready for the season," Samson said Feb. 2.</p> <p>But Oviedo could face disciplinary action from Major League Baseball because "there was an acknowledged violation of the law" by him, Samson said.</p> <p>"If you ask me will he be at...
After signing him to a lucrative contract and moving Hanley Ramirez to third base, only one question remained regarding shortstop Jose Reyes: Would he comply with the Miami Marlins longtime policy prohibiting long hair? "Shorn-nuff", as Reyes even sat in a barber's...
Along with a new uniform, Jose Reyes has a new, close-cropped look. The All-Star shortstop had his dreadlocks trimmed during a nationally televised haircut Friday on the MLB Network. The Miami Marlins are ready to roll out the playing field for their new ballpark. Workers will begin laying sod Thursday, installing 50-foot rolls four feet wide. The field will consist of 110,000 square feet of Bermuda grass, and installation will take about three days. The Marlins chose a Bermuda grass that's shade-resistant for their ballpark, which has a retractable roof.
Miami Marlins president David Samson plans to run 50 miles in one day for charity to honor construction workers who built the Marlins' new ballpark, which opens this season. DETROIT - Prince Fielder stood with a smile and recalled his earliest memories of old Tiger Stadium, when he would hang out at the ballpark where his father hit so many massive home runs.

Yoenis Cespedes' agent said the Cuban outfielder has established legal residency in the Dominican Republic, allowing him to becoming a free agent. Once Major League Baseball receives confirmation of residency, it will send a letter to teams verifying his status as a free agent.
